About me
I am a tenure-track professor at TU München. I am interested in the intersection of mathematical physics and algebraic topology, more precisely in the mathematical study of field theories using methods from homotopy theory. My research is concerned with several questions in the realm of functorial extended field theories and higher structures using tools like factorization algebras/factorization homology and derived symplectic geometry. I am also interested in the required higher categorical foundations for using homotopy theory in the study of field theories.

In June 2026 I am coorganizing a 3-week-program at IHP on Global Categorical Symmetries Register now!
Activities
In September 2025 I coorganized a summer school and workshop on Higher Structures: Recent developments and applications.
In July 2025 I coorganized a workshop on Spaces of Tensor Categories.
In February 2025 our group organized a Workshop on Gray Products and Lax Constructions in Raitenhaslach.
Our SFB/CRC 1624 Higher Structures, moduli spaces and integrability started in 2024. I am a PI in the project on "Stratified spaces and factorization homology techniques".
The SFB/CRC 1085 Higher Invariants was prolonged for the third funding period 2022-2025. I am a PI in 2 projects. I am a coorganizer of a conference on Functorial Field Theories in August 2023.
I am a PI in the Simons Collaboration on Global Categorical Symmetries.
Research group
I currently have 1 PhD student, Anja Švraka, and 5 postdocs: Former members:- Eilind Karlsson successfully defended her thesis in February 2025!
- Tashi Walde was a postdoc in our group April 2020 -- March 2024 and a guest April 2024 -- March 2025. He has been a postdoc in Regensburg since April 2024.
