Higher category theory meets quantum field theory (CATSinQFT)
Project funded by the BFS, the Bergen Research Foundation, 2018 - 2024.
The funded project lies at the intersection of mathematical physics and algebraic topology, more precisely in the mathematical study of field theories using methods from homotopy theory. It is concerned with several questions in the realm of functorial field theories, factorization algebras, and higher structures. A main goal is to construct and study various conjectured examples of (fully) extended (twisted) QFTs using tools such as derived algebraic (symplectic) geometry and factorization algebras. This involves developing the necessary foundational techniques in higher category theory, and studying other applications thereof.
Job openings
I will be advertising two positions this fall, which will be funded by this project:
- one postdoctoral position (2-3 years, depending on teaching): The application deadline is December 17; submit cv, research statement, and contact information for two references via the official advertisement at jobnorge here
- one PhD position -- stay tuned for the advertisement!
